Mmmmmm....small fish and g-nut sauce - Oct 11

Today was a much less eventful day. Wait, did I mention that last night when I came home the power was out?? Siouxanne had a bunch of guests over for tacos, and let’s just say that we ate to a romantic candle light dinner. Which was lovely until hour after hour is remained this way. She called the electricity people over and over and each time they told her that someone was on their way. By 11pm that night, we headed to bed in hopes that maybe the power would turn back on while we were sleeping, BUT with no such luck. The power remained out for the whole night and only came back on at about 545 tonight! But, like they say…TIA (this is Africa).

Anyways, this morning I finished my meeting with Henry regarding a bunch of things that involved the boys and Sanctuary. Then I met up with Henry’s brother (actually cousin) Shadrach who is helping Mike (friend from church) who is working with Christian Horizons to build a school. After that emailed all the people who I have been meaning to email, updated my blog, posted some pictures, and arranged 2 meetings for tomorrow.

Probably the most exciting part of my day was going with Henry to the Main Market. Either way, Henry had a list of supplies that the boys needed and then also a list of how much each item cost, and how many of it they needed. We were on a hunt for small fish (all I can say is ewww…the smell and the look..lol, although I promised to try it), gnuts, eggplant, bread, fire sticks, soap, toothpaste, bread, greens, passion fruit and avocados. Henry says that he is going to teach me so that someday I am able to do the shopping, he has much more confidence in my abilities to do such things than I do! Not that I don’t think that I am able to do the shopping, but finding my way around the market is a whole other can of worms.

Anyways, after the market we took the food back to the boy’s home, and then I came home.

And that was my day. Now I am enjoying the company of my housemate Emily (from the UK) and my books. Bye for now!
